Zaragoza, May 11, 2018. Esta semana hemos participado en Madrid en una sesión organizada por la Association of Parliamentarians in Defense of Animal Rights, a project framed within the Congress of Deputies, which brought together different entities con el fin de encaminarnos hacia la prohibición de los animales en los circos.
La sesión, que contó con la asistencia de parlamentarios de diferentes organizaciones políticas con representación en el Congreso resultó ser una puesta en común de la cuestión desde diferentes ámbitos. En nuestro caso, desde Animal Class aportamos nuestra experiencia desde el ámbito educativo, exponiendo cómo reaccionan los menores ante este tipo de espectáculos, qué visión tienen de ellos y cómo les influye presenciar este tipo de espectáculos.
Throughout the session, we were able to share our experiences with the other speakers: lawyer Anna Mulá, philosopher Marta Tafalla, and veterinarian and president of AVATMA, Enrique Zaldívar. Also present were representatives from various organizations across Spain, such as Libera, the Valencia Animal Rights Coordinator, and several entities linked to animal law.
Given that we are at a point where the list of municipalities free of circuses with animals exceeds 450 municipalities and there are already four Autonomous Communities that have banned them, it is urgent to move towards a state law that puts an end to this type of show and offers a dignified way out for the animals that have been exploited in this type of show for decades.
