Zaragoza, April 13, 2014.– En los últimos días ha aparecido en la prensa que se está cerrando el pliego de condiciones para sacar a concurso la cesión del espacio en Valdespartera para instalar el circo en las próximas fiestas del Pilar de Zaragoza.
As the media points out, it seems that the City Council will give preference to candidates whose circuses do not use animals, due to social demands and those of some political groups in the Council such as IU.
Desde Animal Class hemos venimos insistiendo reiteradamente en el sufrimiento que supone para los animales vivir enjaulados y ser sometidos a los duros entrenamientos que padecen para “aprender” a realizar los números del circo.
Furthermore, as an organization of teachers and educators, we believe that the educational value of these performances is zero and counterproductive, since the vision that children perceive when they attend this type of show is far from a situation of well-being and respect for animals.
We understand that families want the best for their children and attend the circus so that children can see animals unfamiliar to them. However, the costumes and staging of these shows conceal a life of deprivation, far removed from their natural environment and the social and environmental structures that would be appropriate for these animals in the wild.
Desde Animal Class solicitamos, por tanto, a la Sra. Dueso, consejera de Servicios Públicos y Movilidad del Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza y responsable de la resolución del concurso público, que se decante por un circo sin animales y que tenga en cuenta los criterios educativos de los niños, principales destinatarios de dicho espectáculo, así como de los animales víctimas de este negocio de privación.
