REFLECTION ON THE PROFITS OBTAINED BY COSMETIC COMPANIES AND ANIMAL ABUSE.
INTRODUCTION
The following activity is designed to be developed with first-year high school students, students who already have both analytical and opinion tools to carry out this type of activity.
Furthermore, by selecting an article about a current news story, we encourage students to stay informed and show a reflective attitude about what they read daily in the different media.
ACTIVITY
Students will be given a news item related to the entry into force in the EU of the ban on animal testing for cosmetic purposes.
Durante unos días se les permitirá recopilar información sobre los beneficios que han obtenido en el último ejercicio las principales empresas del sector cosmético y sobre su política respecto al trato de animales.
Once the information has been gathered, a debate will be held on the following issues.
1. What are the consequences of the ban on animal testing for cosmetic purposes from a business perspective?
2. What are the consequences of the ban on animal experimentation for cosmetic purposes from the point of view of animal rights?
GOALS
- Learn about the different animal welfare policies of different companies, trying to get students to empathize with those that have good practices.
- To understand the situation regarding animal experimentation for these purposes.
- Analyze the news from a reflective perspective.
- Reflect on how this measure will affect both the animals and the profits obtained by companies.
