Although at Aula Animal we defend veganism for ethical reasons and not for health reasons, we believe that this news is important because it reflects that it is not necessary to consume animal products to have a healthy and balanced diet.

Según la PCMR, existen suficientes investigaciones médicas que demuestran que Milk does not improve bone health, yet it is the largest source of saturated fat in the diet.grasas que todas las guías alimentarias nos empujan a evitar.
“Milk doesn’t make children grow taller and stronger, but it can make them weigh more,” says Susan Levin, director of nutrition education at the PCRM. “We are asking Congress and the Department of Agriculture (USDA) to put children’s interests before the interests of the dairy industry. By focusing on milk as the most important source of calcium in children’s diets, we are distracting schools and parents from foods that can actually build bones, such as beans and leafy green vegetables.”
The petition, filed on July 19, asks the U.S. Department of Agriculture to issue a report recommending to Congress an amendment to the National School Lunch Act. The amendment would exclude cow's milk as a required component of school lunches, arguing that it not only fails to improve bone health or reduce the risk of osteoporosis, but may also create other health risks in adulthood.
"Promoting milk consumption in children is, in effect, promoting an ineffective placebo," the petition states. It adds that other products, including fortified soy milk and rice milk, also contain calcium, with the advantage that, being low in sodium and free of animal protein, this calcium is actually absorbed by the body.
