Just when we thought Zaragoza was going to join the rest of the Spanish municipalities free of animal circuses, we realize that Dueso has gone back on his word. It was his administration that announced changes in April of this year, when they were finalizing the terms and conditions for putting the Valdespartera space, designated for the circus during these festivities, out to tender.
The City Council claimed it would prioritize candidates whose circuses did not use animals, thus responding to requests from local animal rights groups and other political parties in the council. Six months later, dozens of animals are once again being held captive in Valdespartera. The Socialist Party (PSOE) in the City Council has not only forgotten its own promise, but also the promises of the citizens.
Do they still think there's anything educational about these kinds of shows?
