Según informa Igualdad Animal, el pasado día 24 de enero se realizó la primera visita guiada de escolares madrileños a la plaza de toros de Las Ventas, tras el acuerdo alcanzado entre el Centro de Asuntos Taurinos y la Dirección General de Juventud de la
Comunidad de Madrid, con el fin de acercar la bullfighting festival a los jóvenes de la región. Estas visitas están destinadas a los alumnos que cursen actualmente 3º y 4º de la ESO y 1º y 2º de Bachillerato y se realizarán con una frecuencia mensual.
According to the Community of Madrid's own website, these visits will "promote the personal development of young people and their access to different forms of culture and artistic creation." It is estimated that more than 13,000 young people will participate in the 2012 edition.
At Aula Animal, we strongly oppose the organization of these supposedly "educational" activities in schools, since the only thing they convey to students is that animals are at our disposal to entertain us at the cost of their suffering.
