The Zaragoza Teaching Staff Board, the union representative body for Aragonese public education, has asked the provincial director of Education in Zaragoza not to allow activities in educational centers that involve or promote animal abuse.
The request comes from the CGT union, which spearheaded the proposed resolution. It was supported by votes in favor from STEA and UGT, and abstentions from CCOO and CSIF. This majority union support allowed them to submit the request to the Education Administration.
This measure seeks to prevent any type of activity related to bullfighting, as has already happened this year at the CEIP Camón Aznar, visits to bullfighting schools or other activities that promote animal abuse.

PROPOSED RESOLUTION TO PREVENT ACTIVITIES THAT PROMOTE ANIMAL ABUSE FROM TAKEN IN EDUCATIONAL CENTERS
Values education is present not only in classroom teaching practices, but also in any extracurricular and complementary activity organized by teachers and supported by the various educational programs in schools.
However, this year in Aragon, other activities have been promoted that, because they are considered traditional, have been carried out in schools as "cultural activities." This is the case with activities related to bullfighting, as well as others that promote animal abuse.
It is worth remembering that the United Nations has already issued reports on several occasions warning countries where these types of spectacles exist that bullfighting contravenes the Declaration of the Rights of the Child given the exposure to violence that children experience when watching a bullfight.
For all these reasons, and appealing to an education in values based on respect, THE NON-UNIVERSITY TEACHING STAFF BOARD OF ZARAGOZA URGES the Provincial Director not to allow any type of bullfighting activity as well as others that promote animal abuse in educational centers.
