The teachers' organization Aula Animal has published a video that captures the emotions and reactions of different university students after taking a guided tour of a slaughterhouse using a hidden camera.
Zaragoza, October 28, 2017.Aula Animal, an education project based on respect for animals, has published the short documentary "They never told you in school," which shows the reactions of a group of university students after visiting a slaughterhouse accompanied by a professor.
After arranging the visit with the slaughterhouse managers, it was decided to use a hidden camera to document the slaughter of the animals, as these are such gruesome scenes that they are not usually permitted to be filmed. However, since the objective of this video was also to document the young people's reactions during the visit, the hidden camera was used.
Alba, Guillermo, and Alicia are some of the protagonists of this video produced by Ciudad del Viento, which captures the impressions prior to the visit, as well as the thoughts and emotions after witnessing a slaughterhouse where hundreds of animals are sacrificed every day.
“From my point of view, knowing how slaughterhouses work should be a requirement from childhood. We need to be told what's behind our plates, how it works, what the process is like, and that what we eat are animal lives,” says Alicia, one of the students who visited the slaughterhouse.
Aula Animal also aims to highlight through this work how schools conceal the reality of animal suffering in factory farms while simultaneously instilling in students the idea that animals are happy there.
