As they did last year in Madrid, the animal rights organization Igualdad Animal has invited children in Mexico to express their wishes for animals in the coming year. It's a moving way to give children a voice so they can express their hopes for those who cannot speak for themselves.
The activists placed various pictures of animals, along with markers and paints, on a table. Children who approached chose the picture they liked and wrote a wish related to it. They then hung their small postcard on a string, sharing their wish with the other children.
Because children from a young age are also capable of perceiving the injustices committed against animals and, above all, are capable of developing empathy towards them, let's give wings to their dreams and desires.
Our wish for 2013 is that the message of respect for animals will be present in classrooms. Happy New Year.
