Below is a list of books and stories—some of which you may already be familiar with from the course—that present a different image of animals than the one we see in most children's and young adult stories. In these narratives, animals are not seen as resources, but as individuals who deserve to be treated with respect.

This book makes the Declaration of Animal Rights, adopted by the UN and UNESCO in 1978, accessible to everyone, aiming to offer a path to loving animals as another value of our civilization.
50 cosas que tú puedes hacer para proteger a los animales. Ingrid Newkirk. Ediciones Blume: The president of the global organization PETA tells the children fiftyIt offers tips on how to protect living beings. It also informs them about animal rights, their habits, and environmentally friendly products.
La vida de los animales. JM Coetzee. Editorial Mondadori: The Nobel Prize winner for Literature tells us, through this novel, a heartwarming story that invites us to reflect on our relationship with animals and the consideration we have for them.
