Do animals fall in love?
The purpose of sexuality is not solely to have offspring. Animals also enjoy caressing, cuddling, and mating for pleasure. Great tits continue to copulate even after their chicks have hatched. Common guillemots, dusky dolphins, and many other species also engage in affectionate behavior outside of the breeding season. No offspring are born from these encounters; their sole purpose is to give pleasure. The pleasure and well-being that animals derive from each other strengthen their bonds and feelings. Humans are not the only ones capable of love: animals also develop strong bonds that can last a lifetime.
