This activity is focused on the second year of the Higher Level Cycle of Administration and Finance.
The objectives it would pursue would be those of respecting animal rights, fostering empathy and a relationship of similarity between them and us.
The activity would be part of the development of a business project related to animals, such as a dog boarding kennel or a veterinary clinic. The evaluation criteria would assess the achievement of an appropriate level of empathy towards the living conditions of animals in these centers. They would also consider respect and the methods used to alleviate various feelings, such as pain, distress, or suffering.
The content would be based on the study of the living and comfort conditions of animals in the aforementioned existing enclosures, to encourage creativity and the development of different processes that take into account the most favorable or least harmful treatment conditions possible.
For example, size and suitability of spaces, assessment of the best diet, elimination of stress factors, optimal hygiene and medication, etc…
To carry out this activity, I would organize a visit to centers professionally dedicated to these activities, to observe firsthand the conditions provided to the animals. Following this, I would allow maximum freedom in the development of the business ideas generated within the group, and I would encourage various types of debate when hypothetical cases arose in which certain conflicts of interest were detected between optimal animal welfare and basic profitability criteria.
