In this session, in addition to working on spatial orientation, the aim is to foster affection, respect, and knowledge for animals. To this end, in this outdoor activity for 3rd year ESO students, they will participate in an orienteering course through the pine forests of Venecia, in Zaragoza.
In teams of four, with a compass and a marked map that they have learned to interpret in previous classes, they will have to go looking for all the marked beacons.
At each checkpoint, they will find a card with a clue about an animal they must guess. Once they guess it, they must write it down on a sheet of paper that they will hand in at the end of the course.
These clue-based texts about animals will always highlight positive aspects of them, such as the speed that lynxes reach, the jump length of a frog or a kangaroo, the elasticity of dolphins, the resistance of cockroaches…
In addition, at each beacon they stop at, they will have to take a picture with their mobile phones of some animal (bird, insect, etc.) that they can see around them.
Once the course is over, students will be asked to create a printed photo of the animal(s) they saw at home, along with some information about them and their feelings upon seeing them. All the projects will be reviewed in class, followed by a short discussion about these emotions, the importance of animal rights, and the value of all animal species. Finally, the best projects will be displayed at the school.

Procedures: Práctica de la carrera de orientación para la mejora de la percepción espacial; Práctica de una actividad física en un espacio al aire libre. Attitudes: Actitud de respeto a las normas y reglas de la carrera impuestas por el profesor; Valoración de las posibilidades como equipo y de la participación de cada uno de sus miembros con independencia del resultado obtenido; Respeto a los animales; Mostrar cariño y empatía hacia ellos.

Assessment: Valoración positiva del primer grupo en llegar a la meta y, por otro lado, de la persona que mejor entregue el trabajo con la foto y texto del animal. Registro anecdótico de las actitudes. Observación de los criterios a lo largo de toda la unidad, comportamiento actitudinal.
